SKOL Search: Mac Jones Scouting Report

After Tua tragically fractured and dislocated his hip against Mississippi State late last year, a relative unknown quarterback took the field in Mac Jones. Only a 3 star recruit in the 2017 cycle, Jones took the field and was inconsistent initially until the bowl game when he flashed a great deep ball. From then on,…

SKOL Search: Jaylen Waddle Scouting Report

In a wide receiver room in 2019 that included Henry Ruggs, Jerry Jeudy, and DeVonta Smith, Jaylen Waddle was touted as the fastest of the group. That is quite a feat considering Ruggs ran a 4.27 40-yard dash at the combine last March. Not only does he have lethal speed, Waddle also posesses the necessary…

SKOL Search: Caleb Farley Scouting Report

When roster construction is talked about amongst Vikings fans, probably the two biggest positions that have the most debate are offensive line and cornerback: we don’t focus enough on the offensive line and have spent too much draft capital on cornerbacks. While I think there are good arguments for and against both points, I am…

SKOL Search: Kadarius Toney Scouting Report

In today’s NFL, receivers don’t have to be any certain prototype. Long gone are the days are the 6’4″ and 210 lbs. and we have all different body types and styles. While you can still have that prototypical body from yesteryear, it isn’t a necessity. One of the best analogies that I have heard in…

SKOL Search: Dyami Brown Scouting Report

Dyami Brown can come in early and make a big impact similar to what Darnell Mooney did in Chicago this year. Get him on the outside and have him outrun defensive backs for big plays. As he develops his route running, Brown could end up being an impact player. At the very worst, he will be a deep threat guy and someone you can get the ball in space.

After a 10.5 sack season in 2019, Jaylen Twyman decided just before the season started that he was planning to opt out of the 2020 season. While I will never fault a man or woman for doing what they think is in their best interest, it was a real shame to not see him on…

SKOL Search: Gregory Rousseau Scouting Report

After a tremendous redshirt freshman season recording 15.5 sacks, Gregory Rousseu decided to opt out of the 2020 season and prepare for the draft. This was a decicion that, from a football perspective, brought very mixed feelings around the media. He was incredibly productive but it was also evident that he was raw and needed…

SKOL Search: Ja’Marr Chase Scouting Report

With the Vikings season having wrapped up yesterday, we are officially into the meat of draft season. While we will be talking a lot moving forward about the direction of the team and how they will approach the offseason and roster construction, throughout the process I will be dropping numerous scouting reports and big boards….

SKOL Search: The Vikings Need A Philosophy Shift

Moving forward, this should be the permanent direction of the franchise. For as good as Mike Zimmer has been resurrecting the franchise from seemingly yearly underperformance and disappointment to regularly being talked about as a contender, it’s also obvious that he is to Minnesota as Tony Dungy was to Tampa Bay: a fixer. I will be forever grateful for what Zimmer did to fix the franchise, but the way he wants to win is outdated. This is no longer 1995 where drafting a star running back in the first round can change the fortunes of your franchise and defense truly wins championships. This is the NFL in 2020 where what truly matters in team building has passed this franchise by.
