Well it’s been a while since I’ve written a stock report due to me being out of town, but we’re back now! We’ve had a practice at US Bank Stadium, along with a walk through and one normal practice. Now the Denver Broncos are here for some a couple joint practices for a few days as the Vikings near the end of Training Camp. If you’re new here, this year at Climbing The Pocket, we are going to do our best to report back daily with a Vikings Training Camp Stock Report. Essentially, relaying the information we hear and see from our fellow Vikings beat writers about who is trending up or down at Training Camp, and who we should be watching for in the coming days.
Trending Up 📈📈📈
Michael Pierce– Holy cow, have yourself a day Michael Pierce. Since coming back from injury and opting out of the 2020 season, Pierce has looked fresh and disruptive. He continued that trend again today, along with the rest of the DL. Pierce was disruptive all day long and gave the Broncos some trouble’s, whether they tried to run the ball or pass. It’s nice to see Pierce come back and show the fans what he’s capable of. On top of that, having him along side Dalvin Tomlinson, should give the Vikings that interior pressure they missed last year.
Trending Down 📉📉📉
Vikings Secondary- Maybe it’s time to worry? The secondary faced some new opposition today, and they apparently struggled. Combine this with the fact that Mackenzie Alexander left practice with an apparent injury late in the day leaves me questioning whether we should start to be concerned with the corners. Breeland has been really good most of camp, but we haven’t heard much from Patrick Peterson, and we know that Dantzler has had some up’s and down’s. Now with Alexander out, it leaves a pretty shaky DB room. They’ll get a chance to overcome the poor performance tomorrow in practice, but if it doesn’t go well, they’ll probably get an ear full from Zimmer.
Who To Watch 🔎🔎🔎
Dede Westbrook- Fans we’re super excited when Dede signed, but we have yet to really see him. The Vikings are being extremely cautious with him throughout camp since he is coming off an ACL tear, but his time is coming. Another WR went down in practice yesterday, and the Punt Returning job is wide open. Two spots Dede can help in. My guess is Dede gets more action once training camp is done, and will start to become a real contributor moving forward.
