If you’re new here, this year at Climbing The Pocket, we are going to do our best to report back daily with a Vikings Training Camp Stock Report. Essentially, relaying the information we hear and see from our fellow Vikings beat writers about who is trending up or down at Training Camp, and who we should be watching for in the coming days.
Trending Up ๐๐๐
Cameron Dantzler– Welp…one day after I had put Dantzler in the Trending Down section, he turns out his best day at camp. He was able to complete his day with two interceptions. This is a positive sign for Dantzler to be able to bounce back so strongly today. He held a presser mentioning the work he put in this offseason, and as I alluded to yesterday there is plenty of time for him to still have a good camp. He took that first step today and can hopefully continue to build off a strong day.
Kene Nwangwu– I had Kene on the watch list not too long ago, but I feel it’s appropriate to put him in the trending up category today. He may not be taking off, but he still is putting together a solid camp and continuing to showcase his speed and kick return ability, which may make guys like Ameer Abdullah expendable. It’ll be exciting to keep an eye on him to see if he can continue to trend up, our first chance to see that will likely come in the Vikings first preseason game.
Trending Down ๐๐๐
Wyatt Davis– He just got back into the lineup two days ago, and I quickly placed him on the who to watch list. In practice yesterday he struggled, and apparently had some whiffs on blocks which allowed some pressures on the QB. I’m not saying that Davis can’t turn things around, but he had a steep hill to climb given Udoh’s strong camp thus far. So day’s like yesterday will not help his cause.
Justin Jefferson– Don’t panic, he’s not actually trending down, it’s just a small blip. I mean we’re talking about Justin Jefferson for gosh darn sake! Nonetheless though, Jefferson appeared to have struggled in yesterday’s practice, including a rare drop. Who knows what the reason behind the off day was, but it’s a good reminder to us all that even the best of them have off days. Jefferson should have no problem putting this day behind him.
Who To Watch ๐๐๐
Kirk Cousins- Yep, keep an eye on him, for a multitude of reasons. Kirk missed the last four practices, which was the first time he has missed practice in his career. There is a lot of pressure on him naturally for just being the QB for the Minnesota Vikings. Throw in the attention he and the team are getting, given the news that Kirk has yet to be vaccinated and it’ll be interesting to see how he responds. Will he allow this to be a distraction, or will he be able to put this behind him.
