Samuel Cosmi
Height: 6’7″
Weight: 308 lbs
Strengths: Having started 34/35 career games, Samuel Cosmi played a season at right tackle and his final two at left. As an offensive lineman, it is evident that Cosmi possesses the ideal size and athleticism for the tackle position. His footwork is solid and moves laterally very well. Size, however, is nothing unless you use it well. Cosmi does a great job utilizing his frame. His hand placement is solid and doesn’t get super grabby. With a guy his size, there is a worry that he will bend too much with his waist. Cosmi bends at the knees and utilizes leverage against pass rushers very well, standing them up at times with ease. Football IQ is a plus trait with Cosmi. He keeps his head on a swivel and picks up stunts with ease.
Weaknesses: While his anchor is much improved overall, Cosmi does need to increase his overall play strength. A summer in the weight room should make a difference for Cosmi moving forward. One thing that was very odd in pass protection was how patient Cosmi was in nearly every rep. He let the pass rusher make first contact way too often. It seemed on film that it was something that Texas asked him to do, but does he have the aggressiveness in the passing game that he needs to have?

A player that continues to grow throughout his time at Texas, Samuel Cosmi has a great projection to being a star in the National Football League. Whoever takes him will need to give him some time to be great, as he still has some work to do. However, the size and athleticism give him a fantastic baseline to be a top tackle in the league for a long time.
