GMG – Dalvin Cook Holdout!

GMG – Dalvin Cook Holdout!

Good morning Horners! We all learned that Dalvin Cook is going to holdout for “reasonable” money. What is reasonable? Courtney Cronin reported that figure to be in excess of $16 million, and in the Christian McCaffrey range. Others have said, that Austin Eckler’s contract at around $8 million should be more realistic. The actual number probably falls in between. Good Morning Gjallarhorn’s newest guest, Ryan “Ryno” Johnson goes into the fact that if Cook skips training camp, that under the new collective bargaining agreement, he will not accrue the season, and instead of becoming a free agent next year, become a restricted free agent and most likely defeating any sort of leverage play that he’s trying to get a large payout from.

Drew looks at how with the current situation, these virtual OTAs will impede the progress of needed rookies to develop and be ready for the season. The discussion of which positions need the most actual practice versus just looking at the playbook, zoom calls, and filming workouts to be critiqued and adjustments communicated in a obviously delayed manner versus having the coach chatter in your ear immediately if you do something wrong. Dave talks about which offense of weapons we should expect to see step up this year and make up for production lost, especially if Dalvin Cook isn’t there.

The TCO Performance Center is now open for limited staff to return under new social distancing standards and rules. Who will be there? Hopefully, we will start to see more normal operations as we approach the start of training camp at the end of July. Do you expect a normal timeline for camp and the start of the season?
