Prior to the first rookie walk-thru, the Vikings announced that second-year center Pat Elflein will be placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list.

Elflein is still recovering from the fractured ankle he suffered during the Vikings 38-7 loss in NFC Championship against the Eagles. There was hope that the Ohio State product would be ready for training camp since Nick Easton, who suffered a similar injury, is already back playing but it appears he needs a bit more time to heal.
While it is disappointing that Elflein will be out to start camp the move is likely more precaution than anything as Elflein can be activated from the PUP list any time prior to the start of the season.
With Elflein out to start camp, I would imagine Nick Easton will fill-in at center in his absence, while veteran Tom Compton and Danny Isidora fill in at LG. Elflein’s injury could also lead to additional reps for rookie undrafted free agent Colby Gossett, veteran swing interior offensive lineman Josh Andrews, and the newly signed JP Quinn.
