Top Plays: Vikings at Falcons

Hey fam, due to my live viewing and delayed travel, this segment will be abbreviated, but I still wanted to watch the Top Plays one more time! But first some notes:

  1. Atlanta’s new stadium really impressed me. I’ve been to both The Bank and The Benz now. While there’s desire to compare the two, I see little need to. They’re both magnificent venues. If you have the chance to attend either I highly suggest it.
  2. The SEC championship tuckered out the Atlanta football fans. Tickets to the Saturday college game were 5-10 times more expensive than the Sunday affair. Still, wow were the purple fans loud! AWAY GAME SKOL CHANT YESSSSSSS.
  3. I attended the game with a good friend and huge Falcons fan. Part of being a transplant fan is connecting with fans of other teams, and our friendship supplanted our rooting interest, so we were respectful.
  4. Being respectful was pretty easy since the Vikings made the game really, really boring. I’m not picky and am glad I saw a WIN in person this year…but man that was a snoooooozefest!

Here are the Top Plays:

1st and 10 at ATL 32

(11:28 – 2nd) L.Murray left tackle to ATL 2 for 30 yards (K.Neal; D.Campbell)

Murray WK13

2nd and Goal at ATL 2

(10:01 – 2nd) Jerick McKinnon 2 Yd pass from Case Keenum (Kai Forbath Kick)

McKinnon WK13

2nd and 9 at MIN 30

(6:20 – 3rd) (Shotgun) C.Keenum pass short left to S.Diggs to MIN 49 for 19 yards (R.Allen)

Diggs WK13

2nd and Goal at ATL 6

(14:56 – 4th) Kyle Rudolph Pass From Case Keenum for 6 Yrds K.Forbath extra point is GOOD

Rudy WK13

3rd and 4 at ATL 43

(3:50 – 4th) (Shotgun) C.Keenum pass short right to A.Thielen to ATL 21 for 22 yards (R.Allen)

Thielen WK13

Final Take

The Vikings became Kings of the NFC with this savvy performance against the conference’s defending champions. Every week, our defense registers a studly performance, no matter who they’re playing. Every week, our offense finds a new way to get the job done. It’s a pleasant combination of consistency and surprise.

Against Atlanta they took it to the next level. We weren’t sure if the defense could shut down an offense as powerful as the Falcons. They did, holding them to 9 points. We weren’t sure if the offense to could put together a winning series against a tough opponent. They did, with a 15 play, 89 yard touchdown drive.

I’m in Valhalla watching this team.
